I finally did it. I bought a Macbook Pro and thereby became a traitor to my own preachings, being a PC and Windows Fanboi and all that. But it just feels so damn good. Apple's product design is amazing and I am now owner of a notebook that is fast enough and has a resolution which is big enough for me to actually really design and develop with it and not miss my Dell-PC at all. The only thing I really missed is Windows. I guess this part of my preachings was correct. OS X looks nice and everything, and I admit that it has some really nice little features, but Windows XP is just so much more powerful. It runs fast, has more games, allows me to have more control over what to do and how to do it, all the programs and games I use on a daily basis run on it and last but not least has such a wide range of available software. Oh and did I mention games?
So I became a traitor again and installed XP on m Macbook. And I have to say that this is the perfect setup for me. It runs fast and stable AND runs on a machine that looks beautiful.
On a further sidenote: I also installed Parallels Desktop which allows me to run Windows and OS in coherence mode. Windows is running as a virtual machine on top of OS, but it seems and feels like one operating system that is a combination of both. As you can see on the picture above: The taskbar lies over the dock, Windows and OS-windows are existing in peaceful neighborhood and you can drag files from an XP to an OS window... This one awesome piece of software...
